Partita in a-moll from Johann Sebastian Bach

Eine Sendung von DRS 2, ausgestrahlt in der “Diskothek im Zwei” vom Montag, 27.6.2011, 20.00 Uhr

Neben seinen Partiten für Violine solo hat Johann Sebastian Bach auch eine Solosonate für Flöte komponiert. Sie entstand wahrscheinlich in seiner späten Köthenerzeit um 1722. Inspiriert wurde Bach zu seiner «Partita a-moll pour flûte traversière» (BWV1013) wahrscheinlich von Pierre Buffardin, einem exzellenten Flötenvirtuosen.

Die viersätzige Tanzsuite, die kontrapunktisch und harmonisch höchst reichhaltig ist, gilt als die erste Solokomposition für Flöte in Deutschland. Wie heutige Flötistinnen und Flötisten das anspruchsvolle Werk auf ihrem Instrument umsetzen, hören wir in der Diskothek im Zwei anhand unterschiedlicher Aufnahmen.

The French Revolution and the Revolution Wars which followed it plunged the entire continent into armed conflict and engendered alarm, despondency and unspeakable suffering. But they also inspired many composers to extraordinary flights of fantasy. Napoleon’s campaigns brought forth innumerable musical evocations of revolutionary pageants, battles and armistice celebrations.  This genre was fostered not only by the minor masters but also by the foremost composers of the age. Beethoven, for instance, wrote “Wellingtons Sieg” or “die Schlacht bei Vittoria”.

The present edition closely follows Hoffmeister’s first edition, which was carefully collated with the first edition of the keyboard composition.
